Delivery was amazing.
Product... actually worked really well once assembled (and assembly wasn’t bad either).
Now. Here is the rub.
I don’t usually review anything... I actually loathe to put my words into the public domain... but I’d hate for someone else to spend as much money as I did and have the same result... I’d like to seriously warn people about precautions that should be taken (precautions the company did not warn me should be taken).
My heater, is now damaged badly.
Why? Bought the cover as recommended... but it is not a tapered / fitted design so one big gust of wind and the cover acted like a 3 foot wide sail, and it knocked the whole thing down in an instant. The unit was close to my house, and as much as possible, was as protected from the wind as it could be... but there was no way this thing stays standing with the cover on and fighting any gust of wind (even with a full propane on the bottom as an anchor).
This product (and advice by staff) should have included a very explicit disclaimer (instructions), that this unit (especially with the cover) MUST be secured while not in use if left outdoors.
Emailed company last week, including an explanation and picture. No response as of yet, but let’s see.
This was an expensive issue and lesson... used the heater thrice (still on my first tank of propane)... and the heater got knocked over by the wind as soon as the cover went on... now everything from the head up to the reflector is twisted up, mashed, bent and warped pretty good.
Honestly, there should be some guidance by the company to warn customers that their cover is almost assuredly going to wreck this thing, unless customers are willing to firmly brace the unit to a solid structure while not in use (or store it in a location where wind can’t touch it whatsoever).
This is good information if you want to buy. I am not saying don’t buy one, I am just forewarning of something you need to know if you do... because getting an up-sell to buy the cover (without advice re: wind related precautions and potential damage) is going to lead to disaster... unless you are willing to take the necessary steps to avoid your heater becoming junk before you even get a chance to get your money’s worth.
Don’t be me... if you buy this thing and use the cover, know what is required to keep it upright... and do what is needed to keep it upright (secure / brace it)... or you are just throwing your money away because your heater will be damaged beyond repair in your first encounter with mother nature’s breath.
